August 2006 –- Day 1 – Fan Reunion!
This time around, the Fan Reunion was BIG fan reunion for me personally because all of the people from The Lucy Lounge attending were friends I hadn’t even met yet! The first person I saw was Diane who flagged me down. Diane is SO nice! Fantastic! After we met, she pointed me to Neil who was across from her at the table but two people down. My chair would up being directly across from his. Neil was SO nice, too! In fact, everone was nice! LOL After I met Diane and Neil, Liane and Whitney arrived. I didn't get to talk to them as much because they had to sit at a different table, but I hope to catch up with them tomorrow. We all had a great chat, about everything from Toronto to the Lounge to fully equipped sports cars with stereo eight-track tape decks. LOL The food at the picnic was great – sloppy joes, coleslaw, pickles, chips, and butterscotch pudding.
Since the Fan Reunion was being held for the first time at The Tsinzinia Club of the Greek Historical Society, I thought for sure they would be screened Lucy and the Golden Greek from TLS, but they showed Lucy Carter Meets Lucille Ball to honour Carole! (according to Frank, they will show the unfortunate Lucy And Ma Parker episode tomorrow night… Oh dear…)
Before the screening John Schillner gave us quiz questions which we would have to answer after watching the episode. Neil proved himself the real Cuban Quiz Kid by knowing all the answers to the trivia before the screening…his answers were even more detailed, weren’t they Neil? Neil? WHOA NEIL!
Two minutes into the screening Lucy and Ethel (Diane Vincent and Rhonda Medina) arrived to give a day’s recap and promote upcoming events. Diane was wearing a new outfit this year, Elois’ dress design of the burgundy top, light blue skirt, and flowered trim. It looks very well done! So after rewinding Lucy Carter Meets Lucille Ball, we watched it all the way through – it was a big hit – and then the museum volunteer brought out Lucy Carter’s “Mais Oui” outfit for all of us to see. There was a drawing for one of the Operetta Barbies and I won one of them! YAY! And afterwards all of us from the lounge (except for Whitney because she feeling a bit dauncy)got our pictures taken in front of the Mais Oui getup. (Pictures will be posted tomorrow because I’m a pooped!)
